We’ve used the examples of two UPI applications to demonstrate how to remove an account. Other apps go through the same procedure.
Note that if you don’t want to use UPI for a bank account, you must unlink the account from each UPI to which it is attached. You can also unregister the UPI app if necessary. It is conceivable.
The removal of a bank account from one app does not prevent it from being used in other UPI applications. Other UPI applications can use the same bank account.
UPI Deletion through the Branch:
You may also do it from the bank side if you don’t want to use a bank account for UPI Services. You can request that your bank disable the UPI feature on your account.
You can do so by visiting your bank’s main branch. To terminate the UPI service on your associated bank account, travel to your bank’s main branch.
Then request that the UPI service be permanently deactivated from your account.
The UPI feature will be deactivated from your account after your request has been processed by the bank. As a result, you will be unable to use this bank account in any UPI App.
Delete a bank account from the BHIM UPI app:
You can deregister the BHIM app if you don’t want to use it. You may, however, remove the stored account from the app. The UPI will no longer be required to be deregistered. I’m going to tell you both.
To begin, enter the passcode into the BHIM UPI App and follow the steps:
- Step 1: On the home page, select Profile.
- Step 2: My Profile is on the following page. At the upper right corner of the profile page, tap three vertical dots.
- Step 3: You now have access to the Settings. Tap on the vertical dots once more.
- Step 4: Select Deregister from the drop-down Menu. There is just one option, as you can see.
- 5th step: On the screen, there appears a message. It is your confirmation that you will unregister from BHIM. To continue, click the Proceed button. You will be deregistered from both the BHIM application and the *99# service after clicking.
As a result, your bank account has been successfully deregistered from the BHIM App. The UPI service is no longer available.
You may, however, re-link UPI with your account via the BHIM app at any time.
You must, however, generate a new UPI ID for your account. You also won’t be able to get the old UPI ID’s previous transaction information.

Removing the Default Bank Account:
You may also delete your stored accounts in the BHIM UPI App, in addition to deregistering. If you have more than one stored account, the Default account comes first.
The remainder of the accounts is secondary. On the main page, select the Bank Account option. You can see all of your linked bank accounts here.
The default or primary account is at the top of the list. Other accounts are listed underneath it. As a result, if you wish to deactivate your default account, you must first remove the default tag from it.
To put it another way, you must make any other account the default. The default account will then become a secondary account.
Take a look at the image below, where we’ve made the second account the default. Below the account details, tap the Make Default option.
After that, hit the CONFIRM button. Your default account has now been updated successfully. Press the Bank Account option on the home page to view it again.
By tapping the Remove option, you may now erase your account from the BHIM App.
To continue, click the Proceed button. Your account has been terminated. You will no longer be able to use your account for UPI transactions.
